Sneak Peek - Miss H

I had the chance to take some new pictures today, this time, not of either of my girls. I'm hoping out of all the ones that I took, I got a couple of good ones for her mother (who happens to be my best friend). She is one tough cookie though, won't show her teeth and I had a devil of a time trying to get her to smile. I pulled out all the stops, tried jokes, tried making funny sounds......I was sweating by the end of it!

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Well I'm actually rather excited and yes, extremely nervous about it, but I have decided to do weddings now too. I've been putting a lot of thought into it lately and this is my decision. I think, for right now, I'm going to stick with small intimate gatherings.....until I get all my bearings about me and at that point, we'll see what happens. Anyway, I've posted a couple more images from the wedding that I did over the summer. Stay tuned for info on wedding packages and pricing!

I thought this was a great idea!

I saw this on another photographer's blog who saw it on someone else's blog and I think it's a wonderful idea. I don't celebrate Christmas but I understand that it's a special time of year for those that do and that it can be tough financially for a lot of folks, especially given the world's economic situation right now. Here's the idea:

You know someone. You know someone who's experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family's spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it!

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography - $400 worth, to be exact (the eqivalent to The First Year package. Plus, the person who nominates the winner receives a FREE GOLD SESSION ($270) and a FREE 10x20 storyboard. So what are you waiting for......start nominating!

Here are the RULES!

~ You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services.

~ The nominee must reside in or around the St. John's and C.B.S. areas. Tell me who you know, what they're experiencing, and why they deserve this special gift. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

~ You must e-mail me the full story: natasha_ayers@hotmail.com

The WINNER will be announced on Christmas Eve. I look forward to reading your stories and being able to put a smile on someone's face in these tough times.

And also, don't forget that I am offering a special on my packages for the months of December and January as well. 50% off all packages and 20 free greeting cards (they can be anything from holiday cards to birth announcements).

**UPDATE**
I've decided not to draw the winner on Christmas Eve. Instead I will extend the contest til the 6th of January, at which time, I will draw the winner.

Neglectful is as neglectful does!

Yes, yes I know. I'm horrible. I haven't been taking any pictures and I haven't been posting. Sometimes I wonder why I bother. I've been re-editing some old pics. It amazes me how much I've learned in Photoshop in such a short period of time and there's so much more to discover. I've been dying to get to Signal Hill and get some nights shots of the Harbour. Hopefully I'll get to do that soon before the snow comes for good. Anyway, once again, here's a couple old shots from the wedding that I shot over the summer (my very first) to tide you and me over until I get some new shots. I don't know how I feel about the textured images.

X-mas break

So I'm looking forward to it this year, not for the xmas part of it of course, but I'm hoping to have a couple of sessions then. Well I know I will have one for sure, and I'm hoping that the weather will be cooperative enough for two; maybe more, who knows! No new pics recently, but here's a couple oldies that I breathed some new life into (yay for learning new things in Photoshop!)

Mr. Hersh

Well, the girls wouldn't cooperate with me as per usual, I didn't get one good one of Laura at all. Now I did get a couple nice ones of Emily, but it was a sunny day and it cast a weird orange glow on her. So overall, I'm not happy. However, the dog was around so he was my somewhat, willing unwilling subject and what a handsome boy he is!

Finally took some pictures!

I'm excited. Yesterday was absolutely beautiful here, it actually hit 19 degrees. So I took advantage of the gorgeous sunny day and took some fall pictures. Little Miss L wasn't having any of it, Miss E was willing for a change although she had some ideas of her own about how she wanted to pose so finally, I turned the camera onto Mr Hersh.....the big brown beast in my life. He too, was a bit unwilling to sit and look at me.....and if I got closer to him, he would turn his head to the side. It was funny but frustrating. Anyway, I have no room left on my hard drive to add new pictures, so I'm trying to weed through the images that I do have on there to make more room. In my endeavors, I accidently deleted some pictures that I had taken the summer from Bowring Park before I actually burnt the disk so now I'm frantically trying to find software that can *hopefully* recover the images before it's too late. I did find one program but of course, I needed to buy the full version for it to recover the files, so I'm googling other programs for ones that will work. I should get some new images up in the next day or two........if I'm lucky.

Seriously neglecting

I really shouldn't be surprised that I haven't been keeping up. I've has pretty much all my shoots fall through. And I didn't get paid for any of them. Oh well, lesson learned. I'm done with doing freebies for people. I've slowly started to advertise. I've got a couple of calendars and some business cards at Campbell Rentals. I still haven't got my flyers put out yet. I keep forgetting to do that. The weather has been amazing. Today it's 18 degrees and sunny. I'm going to be outside to take some pics when Emily gets home. I haven't taken up my camera in so long, I don't remember the last time and I'm losing my drive for it, so I need to get back in the saddle. In the meantime, here's Miss E.

Oh me, oh my!

Good heavens, I can't believe it's been a month since my last post and I haven't done a thing in that time. I have taken some pictures of Laura but they haven't been the best. She's not the most cooperative subject. I wonder where she gets her stubornness from! The family shoot that was scheduled for the beginning of the month never happened. I messaged the girl but she hasn't gotten back to me. I'm so very disappointed. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know that you won't be able to make it. I guess the good thing is that there wasn't a second date set (the first session was postponed). I really don't have a problem if you can't do it for whatever reason, just let me know. That's all that I ask. I haven't done the 5 monther that I was going to and I haven't heard from her mommy yet. And I'm also supposed to do a family shoot for them as well. Hopefully we'll get the weather to cooperate for a couple of hours for one day. That's all I need.

I do have some other ideas in mind for pictures, I'm just waiting on the people to be available. This is the one thing that I hate, I hate to wait. It drives me and I get discouraged in between, especially when people praise me up and down and then that's as far as it goes. Oh well, perhaps once it booms, I won't be able to keep a track of it all. In the meantime, here's a couple of pictures of Miss L that I took. She wasn't very pleased to be my subject, but I made her do it anyway! Haha, I'm horrible.

Things have been slow

Well, summer is over now and the fall is definitely in the air. I am hoping to get some outdoors shots once the leaves start changing. It's the only thing I love about the fall, the colours. I haven't gotten a lot of new stuff lately, the weather has been so blah. I'm hoping to do a shoot with a young lady down by a local river. It won't be a go this weekend, but hopefully next Friday, IF the weather cooperates that day. In the meantime, here's a nature shot or two to enjoy.

Been a little slack

Finally, the cold is gone.....all but the cough. My family shoot has been postponed til the early part of October. I still haven't really done much advertising and I'm running out of time. Once the fall is done, I don't think I'm going to be doing a whole lot. Of course, nothing is guaranteed or written in stone. But I'm itching to do a shoot.......NOW!

Ugh, colds.....

So everyone in my house has a cold. Josh started it all and the baby is the last one to get it. The first couple of days, I wasn't feeling too bad, but then that past three days, I've been feeling the worst of it and now, starting this morning, my throat is sore again. Hopefully it's just irritation and no tonsillitis. But despite all of that, I've still been going crazy taking pictures. And no, I haven't gotten any further along in getting any printed off. Anyway, Miss E finally agreed to be my little model, so I've been having fun the past two days getting tons of pictures of her, since I don't know how long it's going to last.

Oh me, oh my

Well, what can I say, I have never been good at keeping online blogs/journals, etc. I haven't been as busy as I was hoping. I've got my website published. You can check it out at: lifeslittletreasuresphotography.com. I've also got my business cards, fridge magnets, tshirt, sticky pads, pen and a whole slew of other things that I printed off vistaprint for free. Gotta love freebies. Anyway, I had a family shoot scheduled for the 24th of this month, but due to the crappy weather, we decided that it might be better to reschedule for September. Knowing my luck though, it'll turn out to be gorgeous on that day. My best friend Karen was down from Ontario for a visit with her hubby Glenn and their adorable little guy M. I had the opportunity to take some family photos for them before they left. Imagine my sheer disappointment when I got the pictures uploaded to my computer and realized that my focus was off in every single shot, all 138! But thankfully, through the magic of Photoshop, I was able to salvage a handful and I really hope they are pleased with them. I also got some new pics of Laura to post, but since I fooled up my comp and had to format, I lost them all. Fortunately, I hadn't deleted them from my memory card in the camera, so I've been in the process of editing them again. Fun times.

Anyway, stay tuned for photos and updates that are coming about possible promos that I will be offering to customers. I haven't started advertising fully yet. There are a couple other things that I'm going to be working on in the next couple of weeks.

Miss E and Miss H

The girls had lots of fun at the playground at Bowring Park and I had lots of fun trying to get pictures of them. Unfortunately, my battery quit on me so I wasn't able to get the ones that I was really hoping for. Oh well, there's still a few weeks left to summer so I'm hopeful that we can get back to the park for a few more photos.

Troubles Uploading

I'm having trouble uploading pics to the site. I have some from the playground at a local park that I took on Sunday but they'll have to wait. Not sure what's going on but I get an error message.

Going nowhere yet again.......

It's a bit discouraging. I was hoping to get the business cards ordered and a website up and running, but I was shot down. I can't say I blame him, considering that I would have to use the credit card and I've already put wayyyyy too much on it in the past month or two. It's disappointing though. Anyway, here's some floral shots that I took a week or so ago. I love wild roses.
